Trauma-Focused

Trauma and chronic stress can leave us feeling overwhelmed, and at times, hopeless; flashbacks, difficulty with relaxing, self-blame, increased irritability, and perceiving the world as unsafe are all common reactions to experiencing a trauma. Through trauma-informed counseling for children, teens, and young adults, you can: - Increase your understanding of your own and/or your child’s responses to the trauma and ongoing trauma triggers - Develop self-soothing coping skills and/or support your child in co-regulation skills - Learn to challenge and replace unhelpful thinking patterns (such as “It was my fault” or “I’ll never have a good life”) - Process and provide meaning to the trauma in a safe, gradual way - Feel empowered, and strengthen your ability, to set boundaries and advocate for yourself and your needs.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy
for caregivers and children 0-6

Early adverse experiences (chronic stress/trauma) are common and can present lasting impacts on individuals and their relationships, which includes the caregiver-child relationship. Child-parent psychotherapy is a trauma-forward model grounded in the idea of “speaking the unspeakable”; This is done through interventions such as play, art, and books, which are used to guide exploration and communication of early life experiences and emotions for you and your child. Through CPP, I help caregivers and their children open doors to explore emotions, needs behind behavior, and nurture connections to further a sense of safety to move through trauma and stress.

Individual Counseling
for children, adolescents, adults

Anxiety, depression, life transitions- there are many reasons that individuals seek out therapy for themselves or their children. Many experience a feeling of hopelessness and feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Through individual therapy, I support clients in recognizing their strengths and pinpointing their areas of growth. By collaboratively building ways of coping, navigating unhelpful thinking patterns, and gradually exploring core beliefs you hold, I help clients to decrease feelings of distress and increase self-compassion and self-worth over time. While this is labeled as individual therapy, there are often times when caregivers or other family members may be pulled in to support with treatment and work through relational challenges.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based trauma focused treatment. This model uses bilateral stimulation targetting past experiences, current triggers, and future potential challenges, resulting in a decrease in current symptoms and distress related to memories, as well as relief from bodily disturbance.
